The Four Types of Magicccs

The Magiccs are made modular so they can be scaled according to the volume of waste that needs to be processed as depicted in the picture on below. The sizes range from the Micro-Magiccc being the smallest manually operated unit to a multi container system called the Magiccc Transdule. Each unit (regardless of the model size) consist of a grow out section for the 4 day-old larvae to develop and a nursery to grow the 1st instar larvae for seeding the waste. You can read more about how the process of growing the larvae in the Magicccs here.

“It was always the vision of Amesect to make Black soldier fly farming a simple process. The operation of the Magicccs can, therefore, be run with relatively unskilled staff with the proper training.” Growing First Instars in the Nursery. Each Magiccc has a nursery section which is dedicated to raising the 1st instars over 4 […]

The Magicccs are not based on traditional HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) and require less energy to operate.  It also needs less headspace for optimal functioning and thus results in more efficient utilization of space.  This patented energy efficient system that utilises the energy given off by the growing insects to save on external energy […]

Micro Magiccc

The smallest and most basic unit is called the Micro-Magiccc consisting of 40 larvae crates and a standalone nursery unit.  The unit is a 1600mm (w) x 1950mm (l) x 2300mm (h) 50mm ISO panel chamber. The crates can hold, depending on density of the feed between 12 and

17kg of substrate.  This feed is converted to live larval weight at a rate between 10% and 25%, depending on the quality and composition of the substrate.  This unit will thus be filled on average, with 600kg of organic substrate every 5 days.

Midi Magiccc

The next size would be a Midi-Magiccc consisting of four Micro-Magiccc units thus 160 crates and a standalone nursery unit. This unit is the size of a 3m shipping container and is filled on average, with 2400 kg of organic substrate every 5 days.

Mini Magiccc

The next unit is then the Mini-Magiccc which consists of two grow out sections and a nursery combined into a 6m shipping container.  This unit hold 320 crates. This unit can be run as two separate units allowing to be filled with 2400 kg of organic substrate every 3 days or as a single unit being filled with 4800 kg of substrate.

Magiccc Transdule

The Magiccctransdule is a complete unit containing all the items needed for production and processing. It is a fully automated, mobile, insect production and processing unit. The composition of this unit is adapted to the substrate used for grow out as well as the envisaged end product. The unit consists of three sections i.e. nursery, grow-out and processing. Each unit is compartmentalized which allows for scaling the unit to fulfil the capacity needed for ameliorating the substrate. Each mini unit functions independently of the others. With five Mini units 4800kg waste can be processed per day with a five day duty cycle.
